Man Accused of Killing Two Elderly Women at Assisted Living Facility

A man from Diamond Bar, California, has been charged with the murder of two elderly women at an assisted living facility.

George Gascón, the Los Angeles County District Attorney, disclosed on Tuesday that Jianchun Li, 40, faces two murder charges.

The deceased, named as Monica Moon Lee, 75, and Hee Sook Park, 83, were both living at the Happy Home Care establishment in Diamond Bar. The discovery of their bodies on June 24 triggered an urgent response from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

In the wake of the savage crime, District Attorney Gascón underlined the necessity for heightened oversight and security in nursing care homes.

Authorities were alerted to the incident at 8:05 am on June 24, and the two victims were declared dead at the location by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department. Further inquiry suggested that Jianchun Li, a live-in caregiver at the home, was allegedly responsible for the murders.

An investigation into the circumstances has been launched by the California Department of Social Services. The department’s spokesperson, Jason Montiel, stated that while the probe is ongoing, the facility is still operational, caring for its four other residents.

Jianchun Li is being held in county jail with a bail set at $4 million.
