Missing Four-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Pool

A four-year-old girl died after being found unresponsive in her family’s backyard pool in San Antonio.

Authorities responded to a distress call at 8 pm on Wednesday, July 26, indicating that the young girl, Jazida Hernandez Cervera, had been missing for around 30 minutes, according to an official police report.

Sergeant Washington Moscoso of the San Antonio Police Department revealed that the family had been spending time in the yard when the little girl somehow managed to wander away from their sight. She was later discovered face down in an above-ground pool in the backyard.

Officers initiated life-saving measures upon finding the child unresponsive. The girl was then transported to a nearby hospital, but medical efforts were not successful.

As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the incident, and authorities are still investigating to determine how the child gained access to the pool unnoticed. The family said the ladder to the pool had been removed and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.

“This is a sad situation. Words can’t fully describe what the family is going through,” expressed Sgt. Moscoso in a statement to MySA.com. “When I heard the news, it was impactful. No one likes to hear this kind of news. It’s a difficult situation for everyone involved.”
