Truck’s Tire Smashes Through Windshield and Kills College Student

A tragic incident transpired on Interstate 75 in Kentucky, adjacent to the Ohio border, on July 16.

A tire fell off a northbound truck, flew over the median and crashed into an 18-year-old university student’s vehicle traveling southbound.

Lauren Collins was a freshman at the University of Kentucky. She was driving her 2012 Buick LaCrosse southbound past midnight when the tire crashed into her vehicle.

The Walton Fire Department was quick to respond to the accident, managing to free Collins from the wreckage and transport her to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Despite the hospital’s attention, Collins’ severe injuries proved fatal.

Authorities are conducting an investigation to track down the truck and its driver involved in the incident. Collins, a native of Independence, Kentucky, was majoring in fashion merchandising after celebrating her high school graduation in May 2022.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, a cousin of Collins shared cherished memories and celebrated her life, describing Collins as a beautiful soul now turned into a precious angel.
