An expectant mother from Virginia died at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, who shared an apartment with her.
Shontae Crawford, 37, was stabbed to death, allegedly by Alimamy Fornah, 35, whom she had been in a relationship with for about 12 years. According to the Arlington Police Department, the couple had recently ended their relationship but continued to reside together in the same apartment. Crawford, who leaves behind a 15-year-old son, was found deceased in their shared home.
At the time of the incident, Crawford’s new boyfriend, Michael Webb, was visiting her. Webb recounted the events, stating that during an argument, Crawford and Fornah locked themselves in a room. Concerned about the escalating situation, Webb broke through the door and found Forner pinning Crawford to the floor. The room showed signs of violence, with blood on the walls and Crawford’s throat severely injured, possibly from a kitchen knife.
Webb intervened, engaging in a physical confrontation with Fornah before managing to help Crawford to her feet. Together, they attempted to leave the building but encountered Fornah again in the hallway, resulting in another altercation between Webb and the suspect. When law enforcement authorities arrived, Crawford was dead in the hallway, and Fornah, who sustained minor injuries and was later charged with murder, was apprehended.
In the aftermath of this loss, Webb and Crawford’s family members have come together to support each other. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist with funeral expenses and provide financial aid for Crawford’s son, Donovon Dimauri, who has autism. Described as a radiant presence, Crawford’s untimely death has left a significant impact on those who knew and loved her.
The accused, Fornah, has not yet entered a plea or secured legal representation to offer any comment on his behalf. The investigation into this incident is ongoing as the community grapples with the loss of an individual.
