A motorist lost her life when her SUV veered too close to a tractor-trailer carrying loads of logs, resulting in the logs being propelled off the trailer and onto the woman’s vehicle, causing significant damage.
The victim, a 25-year-old female resident of Fernandina Beach, Florida, succumbed to her injuries. The authorities have chosen not to disclose her identity at this time.
The incident occurred around 12:45 am on Tuesday, July 18, in the Yulee community, located about 24 miles north of Jacksonville. Details provided by the Highway Patrol indicate that the woman was traveling east on Buccaneer Trail (State Road 200) when she approached a semi-tractor truck transporting a trailer loaded with logs.
According to investigators, the SUV failed to maintain a safe distance and collided with the logs on the trailer near the intersection of Buccaneer Trail and Felmor Road. The impact of the collision caused the logs to be forcefully propelled off the trailer, resulting in significant damage to the woman’s car.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the victim to a hospital in Jacksonville, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Fortunately, the 28-year-old male driver of the tractor-trailer emerged from the collision unharmed.
