13 Bodies Found Frozen in Freezers

Law enforcement authorities uncovered the dismembered remains of at least 13 individuals on August 14.

The grim find was made in ice chests and freezers in two homes in the state of Veracruz, Mexico.

Veronica Hernandez, the state’s chief prosecutor, mentioned that the final body count might increase as the identification process is still ongoing. Six suspects have been detained in connection with the discovery, but the motive behind the act remains unclear.

Local reports indicated that several abducted individuals were also rescued from one of the properties. Veracruz Governor Cuitlahuac Garcia expressed concern over the situation, suggesting it might be an outcome of rivalries between criminal groups. He raised the possibility of gangs targeting each other’s children but didn’t confirm its relation to the found remains.

Highlighting a broader issue, records in Mexico indicate that over 110,000 individuals are missing, underscoring the country’s serious kidnapping crisis
