Elderly Woman Crashes Into Car Dealership, One Dead

On Wednesday morning, August 9, an 84-year-old woman inadvertently pressed the gas pedal instead of the brakes, resulting in a collision at Hammer Toyota, located in the Missions Hills district of Los Angeles.

The event occurred shortly after 9:10 am, when the woman’s vehicle crashed into the dealership’s customer reception area, leaving significant damage.

According to officials, a 56-year-old woman customer became trapped beneath the vehicle, prompting nearby people to rush to her aid.

Despite efforts to free her, the victim remained unresponsive. A nurse on the scene began CPR, but the injuries sustained during the ordeal proved fatal. The victim, dragged around 20 feet by the force of the collision, was subsequently pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.

The accident also injured two dealership employees, aged 23 and 35. One employee sustained a head wound, though the injuries sustained were deemed non-life-threatening by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The vehicle involved in the incident bore handicap license plates.

Remarkably, the driver emerged from the collision unscathed and declined medical attention at the scene.

While questioned by authorities, the driver’s cooperation and the circumstances suggest the accident was an unintended outcome.
