Family Murder-Suicide Follows 4-Year-Old’s Drowning

A family of four was discovered dead at their home in Allen, Texas, on Monday, August 28, in what authorities suspect might be a murder-suicide.

The four found dead were father Farman Sherwani, mother Layla Sherwani, and their two sons, Mateen, 2, and Shaheen, 12.

The incident comes just weeks after the family’s four-year-old daughter drowned in a swimming pool. Sergeant Jonathan Maness from the Allen Police Department confirmed in a recent email that detectives are considering the girl’s recent death as a potential factor.

The discovery was made in the suburban area of Allen, about 30 miles north of Dallas. The authorities were called when another resident couldn’t access the house for two hours. After more family members arrived, the police entered the house, revealing the scene.

The Islamic Association of Allen, which was the first to identify the deceased, held a prayer vigil for the family on Tuesday.

The venue was filled with mourners and worshippers.

The police department continues its investigation into the circumstances of the deaths.
