Jill Staub, aged 51 from New Oxford, met a tragic fate in East Hanover Township, Pennsylvania, on August 22.
Pennsylvania State Police have reported that the unfortunate accident occurred when Staub was getting her mail and was hit by both a car and a series of mailboxes.
The emergency call about the grievous event led state troopers to the scene by 3:50 pm. Details from the investigation indicate that a male, aged 62, was driving west when his car rammed into a concrete boundary. This jolt forced the vehicle to drift further in the westward direction, swaying it to the right side of the lane. Straying from its lane, the car bumped into several mailboxes placed on a grass-covered shoulder.
Staub suffered injuries from both the car and the mailboxes. Found amid the resulting debris that littered the right lane and its shoulder, she couldn’t be saved and was confirmed dead at the location.
The vehicle, after its initial trail of devastation, continued its charge through the grassy patch and slammed into a utility pole with such intensity that it split the pole. The ordeal culminated when the vehicle finally halted.
The car’s driver, having endured slight injuries, was transported to a nearby healthcare facility.
Presently, the police are inspecting if alcohol played a role in this accident.
