A 25-year-old man died on a New York City street after being involved in a vehicular accident on the Manhattan Bridge on August 7.
The incident occurred around 1:45 am when the man’s car collided on the bridge’s lower level with an Uber vehicle in a minor accident. Instead of waiting for authorities, the man exited his vehicle and attempted to leave the scene on foot. During his departure, he accidentally fell from a raised section of the bridge.
A local resident came across the man’s body below the bridge at the junction of Henry and Forsyth Streets. Emergency responders transported him to New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
The man’s identity is being withheld, and the events surrounding the accident, why the man ran away, and his subsequent fall are under review.
