Plane Crash on Highway Kills 10

A plane crash on Thursday, August 17 resulted in the deaths of all 10 people involved, including eight aboard the aircraft and two motorists, authorities confirmed.

The aircraft involved was a Beechcraft Model 390 private jet, departing from Langkawi International Airport and due at Subang Airport close to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) indicated that at 2:47 pm, the jet communicated with the Subang Air Traffic Control Tower, obtaining clearance to land shortly after. However, merely three minutes post-clearance, smoke was detected at the crash site on the highway by the tower.

Hussein Omar Khan, the Selangor Police Chief, conveyed that the aircraft collided with a car and motorcycle. Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated in a press briefing that there were no survivors. Subsequent posts and videos on social media platforms showed the aftermath of the disaster.

The casualties were confirmed as six passengers, two aircraft crew, and two motorists by local police chief Mohamad Iqbal Ibrahim. BBC sources mentioned that the pilot, Shahrul Kamal Roslan, and a local politician were among the deceased.

An official investigation regarding the crash’s cause is in progress.
