Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were allegedly excluded from the Royal Family’s gathering commemorating one year since Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.
The gathering, scheduled for September 8 at Balmoral Castle, comes just a day before Harry and Meghan’s appearance at the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Insiders suggest that the lack of an invitation underscores the existing tensions between the couple and the Royal Family. This upcoming event in Germany will be their inaugural joint European visit after the Queen’s funeral in 2022.
The Royal Family’s decision to not invite Harry and Meghan seems to be in line with the desire for a more private gathering. Although Prince Charles had initially included them in the guest list, the final list was more restrictive, focusing on immediate family members.
Interestingly, Prince Andrew, despite recent controversies, is anticipated to attend the event, accompanied by his former spouse, Sarah Ferguson.
The relationship between Harry and Meghan and the Royal Family has been strained, especially after their decision to step back from royal duties and relocate to Montecito, California. Their subsequent projects, including an explosive Netflix documentary and an Oprah Winfrey interview, further deepened the divide.
The release of Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” intensified the rift, with Harry leveling various allegations against his family. As the Balmoral gathering nears, the absence of the Sussexes, including their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet Diana, underscores the ongoing challenges within the royal framework.
