On Thursday afternoon, August 10, an altercation involving gunfire took place in the men’s restroom of the Bordeaux Branch of the Nashville, Tennessee Public Library on Clarksville Pike.

Metro police have reported that three teenagers from the same neighborhood are now facing charges due to the incident.

A 14-year-old boy, who had an earlier disagreement with two brothers aged 15 and 16, was accompanied by another 15-year-old boy into the library. The brothers followed them in. Inside the restroom, shots were fired, resulting in the 16-year-old accidentally shooting himself in the foot and injuring the 14-year-old in the groin. The incident was isolated to the restroom, and no other library visitors were involved.

Post the incident, the injured 16-year-old was located at the library on Kingview Drive and received medical treatment. The 14-year-old was aided by library personnel until medical teams arrived. Both are anticipated to recover fully.

A semi-automatic pistol was discovered with the 14-year-old, leading investigators to believe he might have also fired. The gun’s origin is being traced by federal agencies. The two brothers have been charged with attempted criminal homicide, reckless endangerment, and illegal possession of a firearm. The 15-year-old accompanying the 14-year-old faces conspiracy charges related to the incident. Charges for the 14-year-old are pending review.
