Three Dead, Several Injured in Pennsylvania Tour Bus Accident

On Sunday, August 6, a charter bus carrying at least 50 people collided with a passenger vehicle on Interstate 81 near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, resulting in a crash that caused the tour bus to flip and come to rest on its side.

At least three passengers died, and several others on the bus from New York to Ohio were injured in the accident.

The Pennsylvania State Police reported that the surviving passengers suffered injuries ranging from minor to critical.

In a statement, Trooper Megan Frazer provided information on the extent of the injuries, but the exact number of injured people remains undisclosed.

The Hershey Medical Center, part of Penn State Health, received a total of 28 patients from the accident.

Identities of the deceased have not been disclosed pending the next of kin notification.

According to police, the bus exited the roadway and struck an embankment. It then overturned and its roof area struck the rear end of the Honda. There was heavy rain in the area at the time.

In response to the incident, the southbound section of Interstate 81 was closed between exits 77 and 72 for several hours, causing traffic disruptions as authorities worked to clear the scene and investigate the crash.
