In a recent appearance on conservative Glenn Beck’s Blaze TV show, former President Donald Trump suggested that if elected to the presidency again, he might take action against his political opponents, emphasizing that there might be “no choice.”
Recalling Trump’s 2016 campaign rhetoric of “Lock her up” directed at Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, Beck questioned if the former president regretted not taking legal action during his tenure. “And then when you became president, you said, ‘We don’t do that in America. That’s just not the right thing to do,’” Beck pointed out.
Responding to Beck’s comments, Trump said, “Well, I’ll give you an example… The answer is you have no choice, because they’re doing it to us.”
He elaborated that he had always held immense respect for the office of the presidency but felt targeted by current President Joe Biden.
The comments come amidst a challenging year for Trump, who has faced four indictments over his personal business activities, alleged mishandling of classified documents, and attempts to challenge the 2020 election results. The former president, widely seen as the GOP frontrunner for the 2024 presidential election, has consistently claimed that these indictments are politically motivated to deter his chances of returning to the White House.
While many critics view Trump’s remarks as an infringement on democratic principles, his supporters often see it as a justified response to what they perceive as political targeting.
