Uber Driver Fatally Shot During Carjacking

On August 8, a Seattle Uber driver was fatally shot during a carjacking.

Police have since arrested Ne’iana Allen-Bailey, 18, linking her to the murder of Amare Geda, 52.

The incident transpired around 3:30 am, with Geda in his Toyota Prius. Allen-Bailey allegedly confronted Geda, shot him, and then stole his vehicle.

Upon investigation, law enforcement found no ties between Allen-Bailey and Geda’s Uber work. She was apprehended three days later, having reportedly used the stolen Prius for various tasks, including having her hair done.

Geda, who had two children, had been working two jobs for the past 14 years, driving for both Uber and Lyft at night and working at the airport during the day.

The Seattle Rideshare Drivers Association conveyed their condolences, underscoring Geda’s dedication. To aid with funeral expenses, a GoFundMe was set up, amassing over $68,000 in donations.

Allen-Bailey was taken into custody on August 11, with her bond set at $2 million.
