On the evening of August 11, the Union County West End Fair in Laurelton, Pennsylvania, witnessed a terrible accident resulting in the death of a mother of two.
During a tractor-pull event at about 8:30 p.m., an exhaust wheel fragment detached from a tractor, hitting 33-year-old Brandy Horner in the neck, leading to grave injuries.
Responders provided immediate medical assistance, and Horner was transported to Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg. Regrettably, her injuries proved fatal, with confirmation from Union County Coroner Dominick Adamo arriving within the hour.
Addressing the incident, Dennis Boop, president of the fair, mentioned the lack of protective fencing around the area of the accident and described it as an unforeseen event. A subsequent probe by the Pennsylvania State Police confirmed an equipment malfunction, ruling out foul play.
Horner, remembered as a dedicated mother and advocate for early education at The Learning Lamp in Richland, leaves behind her husband and two children.
In response to the incident, activities at the fair’s pulling track were suspended for the day.
