On the morning of Wednesday, September 27, in Croydon, South London, a 15-year-old girl was fatally stabbed on her way to school.
Witnesses indicated that the victim had just declined flowers from a boy attending a nearby school, leading to a dispute.
The altercation initially began between the girl, her friends, and students from the other school on a double-decker bus. The disagreement did not end on the bus but continued on the sidewalk outside a shopping center.
Despite the immediate intervention of emergency services, the girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the aftermath, her friends took on the responsibility of informing her parents about the incident. The parents’ response was one of profound disbelief and shock.
A 17-year-old male was arrested in New Addington and remains in custody as investigations continue.
The deceased was identified as a student of the Old Palace of John Whitgift School, a renowned private institution in Croydon.
