On Saturday morning, September 2, a man was fatally shot in Kansas City, Missouri at around 10:30 am on the 300 block of Drury Avenue.
Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers responded to the reports of a shooting incident. Upon arrival, the officers discovered a man, later identified as 28-year-old Leroy Purkett, with gunshot injuries, and he was unresponsive.
Emergency services transported Purkett to a local hospital, where he was declared dead.
Preliminary investigations by the KCPD suggest that the shooting might have resulted from a disagreement which appeared to have escalated into a physical confrontation on the street. The specific details of the argument and the people involved are still under investigation.
No one has been arrested in relation to the shooting.
