Body of Missing Oklahoma Mom of Six Found

On September 21, in Macomb, Oklahoma, a search for a missing 30-year-old teacher’s aide reached a grim conclusion.

Makayla Fay Meave-Byers had last been observed leaving her home on September 15, at approximately 5:30 p.m., possibly to meet a date.

The unknown person she met and whose car she got into was described as a bald white man with a dark beard and standing around six feet tall. He was driving an older white pickup truck with tinted windows. This man has yet to be identified or located by authorities, and investigators have not verified any additional details about him.

Meave-Byers’ family became alarmed when they could not reach her, which was out of character for the dedicated mother of six, prompting them to report her disappearance the following day. The family, alongside investigators using drones and search dogs, participated in the search efforts. Her phone was detected within a three-mile radius of her home.

Meave-Byers’ cousin discovered her remains a few miles from her home. Her body was concealed in old waterlogged carpet pieces in a nearly four-foot drainage culvert beneath a road. Although the medical examiner has confirmed it to be the body of Meave-Byers, the cause and time of her death have not been established.

Pottawatomie County Undersheriff Travis Dinwiddie states that her death is under investigation as a homicide.

Known as a family-oriented person, Meave-Byers left behind a significant family unit. She was not only a teacher’s aide at Macomb Public School but also the mother to four stepdaughters and two adopted children. “She’s a great mother. It’s all she cares about,” Andria Meave, Meave-Byers’ elder sister, had mentioned to media outlets prior to the discovery.

Authorities are urging anyone with information, especially about the unidentified male in the white pickup truck, to come forward.
