Brooke Shields recently discussed a past interaction with former President Donald Trump during an interview with the New York Times.
In the conversation, Shields delved into a surprising phone call she had with Donald Trump back in the late 1990s. This recollection was made while she was promoting her new cabaret show, “Fame Is Weird,” at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
She elaborated that during her time working on a film in the late ’90s, Trump called her. He pitched the idea of them dating, emphasizing that as she was a popular American figure and he being a global financial magnate, their union would captivate the public.
Shields, known for her roles in “Suddenly Susan” and “Pretty Baby,” replied that she had a boyfriend and it wouldn’t be suitable to entertain his proposal. Not one to easily back down, Trump commented that she might regret her decision, but Shields held her ground.
This wasn’t new information to some. Back in 2017, Shields had talked about this phone call on the show “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen,” estimating that the call might have occurred around the time of Trump’s 1999 divorce.
Despite Trump’s fresh divorce status, Shields reiterated her position, citing her relationship as the reason.
After ending her relationship with tennis player Andre Agassi, Shields married filmmaker Chris Henchy in 2001, with whom she has two daughters, Rowan and Grier.
Over the years, Shields has reliably stood by this narrative, speaking about it in several interviews.
