Car Plunges Onto Interstate, Five Teens Dead

In Gwinnett County, Georgia five teenagers lost their lives when a car went over a wall and landed on the interstate.

Near the crossroad of Interstate 85 and Georgia Route 316, in proximity to Pleasant Hill Road, the tragic accident took place.

The Gwinnett Police, on Monday evening, September 4, identified the deceased teenagers: Katy Gaitan, 17, Ashley Gaitan, 16, Coral Lorenzo, 17, from Atlanta; alongside Hung Nguyen, 18, from Lawrenceville, and Abner Santana, 19, from Suwanee, Georgia.

Three of these individuals were students at Lakeside High School located in DeKalb County.

The accident, which saw the involvement of three vehicles, also resulted in injuries to three people. The injured individuals are receiving medical care at a nearby hospital and are reported to be stable.

Preliminary observations suggest that the car plunged approximately 50 feet from Georgia Route 316 onto I-85 South, leading to a collision with another vehicle. The impact was such that several passengers were thrown out. All fatalities were from the car that descended.

The reason for the vehicle’s fall is still under investigation, as per Corporal Christian D’Allaird from the Gwinnett County Police Department.
