Early Thursday, August 31, an accident occurred on Route 32 near its junction with I-95 in Maryland, involving a collision between a Greyhound bus and an SUV. The incident resulted in one fatality and injuries to 18 individuals.
The Howard County Maryland police confirmed the details. The Greyhound bus, which had 38 passengers aboard and was heading eastward, was hit head-on by a Buick Enclave SUV. The SUV was driving westward but was in the eastbound lane at the time of the crash. The accident took place around 3:24 am.
The male individual driving the Buick Enclave did not survive and was declared dead at the location of the accident. Among the injured were the bus driver and 17 other passengers; they were taken to local hospitals for treatment. All reported injuries were non-critical.
Given its location between Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, the incident disrupted a major transportation route.
