A disagreement stemming from McDonald’s sweet and sour dipping sauce turned tragic as two teenagers, both residents of Waldorf, Maryland, engaged in a deadly altercation.

Naima Liggon, a 16-year-old student preparing to enter Thomas Stone High School, tragically lost her life in the incident.

According to Detective Brendan Jasper of the Metropolitan Police Department, the incident unfolded after Liggon and the other teen, also 16, attended a party in Washington D.C. with three others. Afterward, the group made a stop at a McDonald’s restaurant. Disagreement over the dipping sauces provided ignited a conflict, prompting the two teens to exit the vehicle. During the confrontation, Liggon sustained multiple stab wounds to her abdomen and chest.

Liggon was transported to Howard University Hospital by her companions, but she succumbed to her injuries. The accused attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by the police. A black pocket knife was discovered in her possession.

Principal Shanif Pearl of Thomas Stone High School expressed condolences to parents and staff in a letter, lamenting the loss just before the start of the new academic year.

While the defense suggested a 24/7 curfew instead of detention for the accused, the judge opted for placement in a juvenile detention center. A subsequent hearing was held on September 1.
