A 17-year-old boy from Florida was taken into custody for allegedly stabbing his uncle, leading to his death.
The incident occurred on Sunday, September 3, around 6:30 pm at the Palm View Cove apartment complex in Melbourne, Florida.
According to initial reports, the teenager resided in the same apartment with his mother, his uncle, Denareus Ellick, and the uncle’s girlfriend.
A dispute emerged between the 33-year-old uncle and his girlfriend on the day of the incident, in which the teenager and his mother reportedly became involved.
It’s claimed that during the altercation, the teenager retrieved a steak knife from the kitchen. As the situation escalated, Ellick, while returning to his room, was allegedly stabbed in the neck by the boy.
After the incident, the uncle was rushed to a local hospital, where he later passed away due to his injuries.
The reason for the initial argument appears to have been over finances and Ellick’s drug use, and the authorities have not yet released the names of the others involved. The teenager was booked into the Brevard County Jail Complex and faces charges of manslaughter and aggravated assault.
