Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. is facing charges after he was arrested for an incident involving his girlfriend, WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick, in New York City.
The New York Police Department reports state that the 26-year-old Gondrezick had a laceration on her face upon their arrival. Initial findings suggest she was struck several times.
Sources reveal that Gondrezick was hospitalized with a broken bone and bruises after the event that transpired at the Millennium Hotel near Times Square. After his arrest, Porter was transferred to central booking.
The situation allegedly began when Porter Jr. could not enter their hotel room. Reports suggest he returned from a night out during the early hours of Monday, September 11, and Gondrezick, displeased with his late return, locked the door. After gaining access to the room with the help of hotel security, Porter had a confrontation with Gondrezick, punching her in the face and squeezing her neck, according to her.
Recently, the pair was seen at the Smart Tox kickoff event with Vogue marking the commencement of New York Fashion Week. Notable personalities like Christina Aguilera, Lukas Gage, and Haley Kalil attended the event.
This isn’t the first time Porter has had a run-in with the law. In 2020, he faced charges related to weapon possession and driving without a valid license during his tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The couple has been in a relationship since February 2022, with Gondrezick sharing images from their one-year celebration on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Gondrezick, a standout player, was chosen as the fourth pick in the 2021 WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever. Notably, she set records at her college, West Virginia, and was the second player from there to join the Indiana Fever.
