In Brooklyn, New York, on Saturday, September 9, a parking spot disagreement led to a shooting, wounding a male and the subsequent death of his female companion.

The shooting occurred in a Home Depot parking lot, located at Willoughby Avenue and Sanford Street in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. The two people involved, Cordel McDuffie, aged 35, and his companion, Imani Sharpless, 26 years old, engaged in a verbal dispute with an unidentified male concerning the parking. McDuffie indicated he inadvertently blocked the man’s car and honked at him, starting an argument.

After their shopping, around 12:15 pm, the couple encountered the same man near their car. He fired shots at them and subsequently fled.

The New York Police Department received a 911 call and responded. On arrival, they discovered McDuffie with a wound on his right knee, while Sharpless was unconscious with a shot to her head. Both were transported to Kings County Hospital, with McDuffie’s condition being stable and Sharpless in a critical state. She later passed away on Thursday.

The shooter was described as a male, dark-skinned, around 5′ 6″ tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds, and was seen wearing a white shirt, red hat, and black trousers. He was last observed heading south on Nostrand Avenue.

In an interview, McDuffie characterized Sharpless as compassionate and full of life. Her cousin Patrick commented on her dreams of modeling and singing.

The investigation continues.
