Olympic Skater Alexandra Paul Dead After Seven-Car Collision

Canadian figure skater Alexandra Paul, who made her mark in the 2014 Winter Olympics, lost her life in a tragic seven-car collision in Melancthon Township, near Toronto.

The accident occurred as a truck unexpectedly entered a construction zone.

Paul, aged 31, had her infant son with her in the vehicle. He sustained non-critical injuries and is currently under medical supervision in a pediatric hospital.

The authorities have not yet pressed any charges against the truck driver.

Additionally, three other people were injured due to the accident.

Alexandra Paul, alongside her skating partner and husband, Mitchell Islam, represented Canada in the 2014 Winter Olympics. The duo wedded in 2021 and became parents a year later.

Besides her Olympic journey, Paul bagged a silver in the World Junior Figure Skating Championships in 2010 and retired from competitive figure skating in 2016.

Recognizing her commendable contribution to figure skating, Skate Canada took to Instagram to honor her legacy. U.S. 2014 Olympic gold medalist Meryl Davis praised Paul’s graceful demeanor, both on and off the rink.

The unfortunate incident has left the figure skating fraternity, along with Paul’s loved ones, in deep grief.
