Teen Driver Arrested for Intentionally Striking Three Bicyclists

A teenage driver was taken into custody on Wednesday, September 13, for allegedly intentionally hitting three bicyclists with his vehicle.

The series of incidents initiated on Sunday night, September 10, around 10:30 pm. A bicyclist, having been sideswiped by a black Toyota in Huntington Beach, California, was injured yet managed to describe the car responsible for the act.

The information was shared by Jessica Cuchilla, a spokesperson from the local police.

Just a quarter-hour later, another bicyclist told a similar story. This individual was also sideswiped by a vehicle which matched the black Toyota’s description. The occurrence took place not far from where the first event was reported.

At approximately 11 pm, 70-year-old Steven Gonzales became the next victim of the Toyota. Paramedics were swiftly on the scene, but regrettably, Gonzales succumbed to his injuries.

Following these consecutive events, the police intensively searched for the black Toyota. By the evening of Tuesday, September 12, they had discovered the vehicle within Huntington Beach, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of the teenage suspect at around 9 pm. Specifics regarding the teen’s age and identity remain undisclosed.

While the law enforcement officers firmly believe the collisions were intentional, the motive for such acts hasn’t been made public. Investigations are ongoing.

The detained teen was reported to be at Orange County Juvenile Hall, as documented by the Orange County Register.
