Washington DC was rocked by a violent episode September 27 when two men lost their lives, and three others were injured in a mass shooting.
The event occurred around 9:50 p.m. at the intersection of 14th Street and Saratoga Avenue.
On arrival at the location, officers found three men suffering from gunshot wounds. Two of them were pronounced dead on site, and one was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Separately, another hospital in the area reported treating two men with gunshot injuries. The condition of one was critical, while the other was stable.
Witnesses reported hearing approximately 100 gunshots, which were fired in three separate bursts within ten minutes. This suggests the potential use of automatic firearms.
The DC Police are searching for three men believed to be connected to the incident and have asked the public to be on alert for a grey SUV. Acting Chief of Police, Pamela A. Smith, mentioned that the shooting might be the result of “crew on crew” confrontations from earlier gang disagreements.
Notably, police officers had been located only a block away when the shooting started. One local resident described the scene as like a “war zone.”
Local authorities have asked the community to stay vigilant and to report any unusual activities or information pertinent to the investigation.
