Kidnapper’s Sinister Plan for TV News Anchor

A popular UK news anchor, Holly Willoughby, was taken off the air on Thursday, October 5, 2023, after Metropolitan police discovered a planned kidnapping and murder plot against her

The presenter of “This Morning” was informed of the plot moments before she was due to broadcast on Thursday. She remained off-air on Friday as well for her and her family’s safety.

Willoughby, 42, is under police protection at her London residence, where she resides with her husband and their three children.

The man behind the alleged plot, Gavin Plumb, 36, is not known to have any connection to Willoughby. Authorities arrested Plumb at his home, where they reportedly found messages detailing his intentions to kidnap and harm the anchor. He is due in court on Friday to face charges of soliciting to commit murder and incitement to commit kidnapping.

The police are said to have taken his phone and other devices into custody, and a police vehicle remains outside his home.

While speaking to the Telegraph UK, Detective Superintendent Rob Kirby stated that the investigation had progressed rapidly. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding potential victims and confirmed that this remains a priority as the case moves forward.

ITV, the channel that airs “This Morning”, expressed their shock at the incident. A representative stated they fully support Willoughby and her family during this challenging period.

Lorraine Kelly, a colleague of Willoughby’s, discussed the incident during Friday’s broadcast. She expressed sympathy for Willoughby and her family and conveyed best wishes.

UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, appearing on the morning show, also extended his support and expressed his sorrow over the incident.

In the latest development, it was revealed on October 10 that Willoughby has left her job at the station, after 14 years there. She is one of the most familiar faces on British TV.
