Louisiana Teen Admits to Shooting Mother and Family Dog

In the early hours of Tuesday, September 26, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, a mother and her dog were found dead due to gunshot injuries. The individual responsible, 19-year-old Johnathan Kliebert, handed himself over to the police shortly after the incident occurred.

Around 1:45 a.m., Kliebert called 911, acknowledging that he had shot his mother, Ashley Kliebert, inside the home they lived in. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s deputies, upon reaching the site, discovered Ashley, a 46-year-old female, with deadly gunshot wounds to her head. The family dog was also located nearby, having been shot fatally as well.

Instead of leaving the location, Kliebert waited in a close hospital parking area, showing his intent to give himself up. This choice was consistent with his previous call to the emergency services, where he admitted to his deeds.

During questioning, Kliebert gave a detailed description of the sequence of events leading to the shootings. He stated that he awoke with overwhelming anger, compelling him to take a shotgun and fire at his resting mother and the dog.

After thorough examinations and based on the accumulated evidence, Kliebert is confronted with multiple charges, comprising murder, armed theft, and cruelty towards animals. The incident has stunned the local community, with many trying to understand the reasons behind a young man’s violent actions towards his mother and a pet.
