A 32-year-old man lost his life during a violent incident in Brooklyn, New York City on Monday, October 2, 2023. The incident occurred in front of his girlfriend, whom he was trying to protect, near a bus stop.
According to police, the attacker, seemed agitated and disruptive. Around 3:53 a.m. at the B38 bus stop located at Lafayette Avenue and Malcolm X Boulevard, the individual was seen knocking over scooters. The situation escalated into a physical altercation.
Ryan Carson, a resident of Bedford-Stuyvesant and a dedicated social justice activist, suffered multiple stab wounds to his chest during the confrontation. Despite the emergency medical services’ swift response and their efforts to save him, Carson’s injuries were severe. He was immediately transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
At the scene of the crime, authorities worked to gather more information and uncover the details surrounding this incident.
Police later arrested 18-year-old Brian Dowling in connection with Carson’s killing. Surveillance footage captured Dowling acting aggressively towards Carson after kicking trash and threatening him. Upon Carson’s attempt to calm the situation, Dowling stabbed him multiple times. Dowling was later apprehended at his residence, where clothing matching the suspect’s description from the incident was found.
Investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
