Skydiving Enthusiast Dies on His 100th Drive

On October 15, a skydiving accident in Texas claimed the life of a 36-year-old Colorado father, just as he was on the cusp of completing his 100th dive of the year. Reports confirm that a malfunction in his parachute led to the unfortunate event.

Jacob “Jake” Todd was a man known for his adventurous spirit and dedication to helping others. This passion for life and adventure was evident in his frequent skydiving trips. Todd’s enthusiasm for skydiving was well-known, but what stood out even more was the close bond he shared with his family.

His father, Dave Todd, expressed the deep loss he felt, stating, “The guy was not only my son, but my best friend.” He shared how Todd was nearing his milestone 100th jump for the year. “He knew that I didn’t necessarily like it because I was afraid of the risk, but I also understood what pleasure it brought to his life,” Dave reflected.

Todd’s brother, Bryan Todd, spoke about the special bond Todd had with his nine-year-old daughter, Jeune. Both father and daughter shared a light that could instantly brighten up any room. The bond between them was evident in their shared adventures, from rock hunting to visits to theme parks and even skydiving, as highlighted in a fundraiser.

As the news of Todd’s untimely death spread, a GoFundMe was set up to assist with expenses and provide support for his daughter Jeune. The fundraiser highlighted Todd’s penchant for “pushing the limits in his hobbies,” whether it was racing cars or skydiving.

Todd’s funeral services took place at the Parker Funeral Home.
