Texas Freshman Found Dead After Fall From Balcony

On Sunday morning, October 15, 2023, a freshman at Texas A&M University was discovered dead after falling from a third-floor balcony at Dunn Hall, located on the College Station campus.

The student, identified as Britney Romero, was pursuing a health major and was set to graduate in 2027. The reasons leading her to be on the balcony remain unspecified, and it’s uncertain if any witnesses were present during her fall.

The Texas A&M University Police Department, upon finding Romero’s body in the courtyard, launched an investigation. An autopsy has been ordered to discern the exact cause of her death.

Vice President for Student Affairs Joe Ramirez told the student body about the incident. In his letter, he emphasized Texas A&M’s dedication to the safety and well-being of its students. He assured that the university would carry out a complete review of the incident to prevent such occurrences.

Ramirez encouraged students who might be struggling to reach out to available counselors and caseworkers stationed by the university.

Texas A&M University continues to cooperate with investigators, ensuring transparency while extending support to the student’s family and community.
