On Thursday, September 28, in the Pine Hills neighborhood of Pennsylvania, a two-year-old girl was severely injured after being hit by a car driven by her mother while leaving their home. The incident occurred on the 100 block of Lynnwood Drive, according to reports.
First responders arrived at the scene where they discovered the young girl with serious injuries at the end of a driveway. She was transported to a nearby hospital. However, despite medical efforts, she was later pronounced dead.
The Allegheny County Police Department initiated a preliminary investigation into the incident. Initial findings suggest that the child’s mother was departing from their home when the unfortunate incident took place. The mother is cooperating with the investigators, ensuring a comprehensive probe into the event.
As the investigation continues, a medical examiner identified the two-year-old as Leah Mutombo.
Dominique Plater, a resident of the area and a neighbor to the family, recounted hearing the distressed screams of the child’s mother, initially mistaking it for children playing. Upon realizing what had happened, Plater called 911 and stayed with the family, providing support until emergency services arrived.
While narrating the harrowing events, Plater mentioned that the mother had her other children in the car. Platt empathetically said, “This type of thing, it could happen to anybody.”
