Twins, Age 5, Discovered Dead Following Mother’s Bridge Jump

On Friday, October 20, in Sanford, Florida, officials located the bodies of five-year-old twins in a residence after the death of their mother, who had ended her own life by leaping from a bridge.

The twins were identified as Ahmad and Ava Jackson.

Catorreia Hutto, 31, the children’s mother, was located when her body was retrieved from an area beneath the State Road 417 bridge over Lake Jesup. The factors contributing to her choice are currently unknown. Investigators, however, believe she may have been responsible for the deaths of her children before taking her own life.

Once Hutto’s body was recovered, deputies performed a wellness check at her residence. During this check, they made the somber discovery of the twins, who were no longer alive, in their bunk beds. A firearm was discovered in the room where the children were found, though there were no signs that it had been used on them.

The reason behind Hutto’s actions remains a focal point of the ongoing investigation. Law enforcement officers are exploring all potential leads and express hope that the investigation will shed light on this incident.
