2 Teens Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

In an incident in Blacksburg, Virginia, Serenity Hawley, a 17-year-old high school senior, and her ex-boyfriend, Croney Monk, were found deceased in what is being investigated as a potential murder-suicide.

The event occurred on November 7, two days before Hawley’s 18th birthday.

Hawley, who was looking forward to attending Virginia Tech University, was found in a local parking garage, in her car, with a gunshot wound to the chest. Monk, also deceased, was found alongside her. The Blacksburg Police Department discovered both bodies and a weapon inside the vehicle. They have not yet officially classified the case as murder-suicide, pending further investigation.

The relationship between Hawley and Monk had reportedly been troubled. Approximately a month prior to the incident, Hawley had sought a no-contact order against Monk at her high school, alleging harassment and blackmail.

The Hawley family has expressed deep sorrow over the loss. Serenity’s mother, Heather Waldron, noted potential warning signs in Monk’s behavior that might have been missed. Her father, John Hawley, remembered his daughter as a bright and exceptional individual.

The Blacksburg community has been offering support to the family during this time.
