Ivanka Trump, daughter of former President Donald Trump, testified on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in the civil fraud trial involving her father and the Trump Organization in New York City.
During her appearance in court, Ivanka, who previously held an executive position in the Trump Organization, asserted that she had limited knowledge of the financial documents at the heart of the allegations. She mentioned having no direct involvement in the annual financial statements scrutinized in the trial. While she acknowledged her involvement in projects like the redevelopment of the Old Post Office in Washington D.C., she emphasized that her focus was on the vision of these projects rather than on the financial specifics.
Her testimony also touched upon her role in obtaining loans from Deutsche Bank for the Trump Organization, which were reportedly secured based on the financial statements in question. Despite email exchanges indicating her assistance in securing these loans, she maintained that she was not deeply involved with the underlying financial statements. Additionally, she distanced herself from her father’s financial dealings, indicating that she assumed her father had his own separate financial statements.
In a separate line of questioning, she acknowledged discussing Trump Organization business matters with her husband, Jared Kushner, but distanced herself from her father’s financial statements that included the valuation of her penthouse apartment.
Ivanka Trump’s testimony follows that of her family members, who have previously appeared in court for the ongoing trial. Her appearance was marked by a calm and polished demeanor, contrasting with the more contentious testimonies of her family members.
The New York Attorney General’s office has brought forward 25 witnesses in this case. After Ivanka Trump’s testimony, Donald Trump’s legal representatives are due to begin their defense.
