On the morning of November 13, 2023, a five-year-old child was found unresponsive by her family in a laundry hamper at their home in Trussville, Alabama.
The Trussville Police Department and local authorities are investigating the incident, currently being considered an accidental death.
This event occurred in the Hawk Ridge neighborhood of Trussville at approximately 6:30 a.m. The child, identified as Khloe Teresa Williamson, was discovered by her family and quickly taken to St. Vincent’s East Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, by Trussville Fire and Rescue. Despite medical efforts, she was declared deceased at 7:17 a.m.
Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates and Trussville Police Chief Eric Rush noted that the initial autopsy did not reveal any signs of trauma or foul play. The cause of death is still under determination, awaiting further laboratory and toxicology reports.
Khloe, a kindergarten student in the Trussville City Schools district and the daughter of a teacher, is remembered for her intelligence and curiosity. Dr. Patrick Martin, Superintendent of Trussville City Schools, conveyed his deep condolences and emphasized the tight-knit nature of the school community, which is mourning the loss.
The school district has arranged counselors to support those affected by this incident.
