On November 17, 2023, Carrollton Police in Texas responded to a violent domestic dispute where a woman, Wei Fen Ong, reportedly stabbed her spouse and then drove a car containing her three kids into a nearby lake.
The husband was stabbed at their residence on Tall Knight Lane and called 911 to report the incident. He was hospitalized and is likely to survive.
Shortly thereafter, Lewisville Police, from an adjacent town, received a distressing report of Ong driving a car into a lake with her three children inside, near Hebron Parkway in Lewisville.
Emergency responders, including local police and fire rescue teams, converged on the lake. All three children were retrieved from the vehicle; one was critically injured, while the others were in stable condition. The investigation into the vehicle’s plunge into the lake is still active.
After treatment at the hospital, Ong was taken into custody by the Carrollton Police and is presently incarcerated at the Denton County Detention Facility. She faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, with potential for additional charges as the inquiry continues.
Reportedly, the oldest child managed to escape the vehicle independently, while an officer saved another child, performing CPR on the unconscious youth. The third child was rescued by fire rescue personnel.
