A new book titled “Endgame” by Omid Scobie has brought to light more details about the ongoing feud between Prince William and Prince Harry.
The book, set for release on November 28, 2023, delves into the strained relationship between the brothers, highlighting events surrounding the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022.
According to Scobie’s book, the feud between Prince William and Prince Harry escalated during the Queen’s final hours. Palace insiders reportedly expressed their fury over the public revelation of these details, emphasizing the royal family’s grief and pain during that period.
The book alleges that Prince William ignored Prince Harry’s attempts to contact him to arrange travel to Balmoral, where the Queen was in her last moments. It also suggests there is no proof that King Charles contacted Prince Harry during this critical time. These revelations have caused a stir in royal circles, raising questions about the extent of the rift within the family.
Scobie, a royal biographer, implies that Prince William believes Prince Harry has been “brainwashed by an army of therapists” in America. This belief stems from Harry’s decision to leave the Royal Family and publicly criticize them in his memoir “Spare,” which was released in January 2023. In the memoir, Harry recounted a physical altercation with William over Meghan Markle and shared private conversations between the two brothers and King Charles. “Endgame” also claims that William feels he has lost Harry and is unable to reconcile with this new version of his brother.
The book covers the impact of Prince Harry’s revelations on the Royal Family’s public engagements. For example, the publication of excerpts from “Endgame” coincided with and overshadowed the launch of a campaign by Prince William focusing on children’s early years. This timing has led to speculation among royal fans that the details in the book were deliberately timed to interfere with William’s wife, Kate’s, work, a criticism that has been previously directed at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle .
“Endgame” describes Prince Harry as a constant victim, snubbed from a family gathering at Birkhall on the night of the Queen’s death. The book suggests a deep-seated division between the brothers, with Prince William feeling betrayed and angry yet sad about the situation. A source close to William said that he feels he has lost Harry and doesn’t recognize this new version of him. The book argues that Harry, having stepped outside the royal institution, sees things in a different light, leading to an irreparable rift between the two brothers.
Prince Harry and Meghan also released a docuseries on Netflix in December 2020 titled “Harry & Meghan,” where they divulged many details about their lives as senior working royals. This series and Harry’s autobiography have contributed to the widening gap between the brothers.
