In a highway accident in Georgia, movie stuntman Taraja Ramsess and three of his children were killed, with another family member left fighting for her life.
Taraja Ramsess, aged 41, showcased his talents in “Avengers: Endgame” and “Black Panther.”
The accident took place on the night of Halloween, Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Ramsess was driving with his children when their Ford F-150 pickup collided with a non-operational 18-wheeler on the ramp from Interstate 285 to Interstate 20 eastbound in DeKalb County. The large truck had previously broken down on the ramp, setting the stage for the tragic collision.
In the crash, Ramsess’ daughters, Sundari, who was 13, and Fugibo, an eight-week-old infant, were both killed. A ten-year-old son, Kisasi, and a three-year-old daughter, Shazia, were thrown from the pickup truck upon impact. They were quickly taken to a local hospital with critical injuries. Sadly, Kisasi later died in the hospital. Three-year-old Shazia is still in critical condition. Two of Ramsess’ other daughters, who were also in the family’s vehicle, reportedly survived, according to the family.
Ramsess was not only accomplished in his field for his stunt work but was also known for his skill in set design. He had doubled for the iconic actor Richard Roundtree and played a significant role in crafting the visual and action sequences in several big box office films. His commitment to his craft was paralleled by his dedication as a father.
The loss has sent waves of grief through the stunt performing community and the broader circle of Ramsess’ colleagues and friends, who are mourning the profound loss of the family and the artistic sphere. The Ramsess family has sought privacy during this incredibly difficult time.
