On Monday, November 6, 2023, a Bronx, New York City man was killed while engaged in maintenance work inside a cement truck. Francisco Lumbreras became fatally entangled in the vehicle’s rotating shaft.
The accident took place at a construction site in the Hunts Point area of the Bronx. Police were alerted and promptly arrived at the scene to assess the situation.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found Lumbreras trapped in the cement truck’s machinery. Despite their concerted efforts, Lumbreras was pronounced dead at the site.
The incident occurred amidst standard cleaning operations and has led to an official investigation. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the workplace conditions and safety protocols enforced at the time of the accident.
Lumbreras, 46, was a staff member of CNB Contracting. When approached for a comment on the incident, the company’s representative chose not to provide a statement.
Authorities are expected to investigate the maintenance procedures of the cement mixing truck and to determine if there was any neglect or violation of safety standards. At present, no criminal charges have been filed, and further information about possible causes leading to Lumbreras’s death remains undisclosed by the authorities.
