A 14-year-old eighth grader named Cain Lee, from Lutheran South Academy in Houston, Texas, died on October 30, 2023, after suffering a severe brain injury during a middle school football game.

The tragic incident occurred on October 11, 2023. Lee spent several weeks in a coma at Texas Children’s Hospital before his death.

Lee, a standout young athlete, was active in multiple sports, including football, basketball, baseball, and track. His untimely passing has been felt throughout the local community.

The Southwest Football League, in which Lee played, plans to hold a moment of silence for him before each of their remaining games as a sign of respect and remembrance.

In addition to his athletic talent, Lee was known for his kindness and selflessness. He was remembered for small acts of generosity, such as secretly giving clothes to a fellow student in need. This aspect of his personality was highlighted during a memorial service, where friends, family, and coaches shared their memories of him.

In a Facebook post by Troy Carroll, a relative of Lee, it was shared that after the football game injury, Lee was predicted to live for only 30 minutes. Defying these expectations, Lee survived for 22,840 minutes, surpassing the prognosis by 928 times. Carroll praised Lee’s extraordinary life, noting that his ambitions were not just to surpass others but to excel in his unique way.

Lee is survived by his parents, an older brother, and a twin brother. His family, deeply affected by the loss, remembers him as a caring and considerate person who often put others before himself.
