A family of three, identified as Rakesh Kamal, 57, his wife Teena Kamal, 54, and their daughter Ariana Kamal, 18, were found dead in their $6.7 million home on December 28, 2023. The incident occurred at their residence located at 8 Wilson’s Way, approximately 19 miles from Boston.
The discovery was made by a family member who visited the home after being unable to reach the family for one or two days. The bodies of the family members were found inside their house around 7:30 pm. The visiting relative immediately contacted the authorities, leading to the arrival of Dover police and state troopers.
Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey, who is overseeing the investigation, revealed that a firearm was found near Rakesh Kamal’s body. While the causes and manners of death are still being determined by the medical examiner, preliminary investigations suggest that the deaths were the result of domestic violence. No evidence of outside party involvement has been reported at this stage.
Ariana Kamal, one of the victims, was a student at Middlebury College. The family resided in Dover, recognized as one of the wealthiest communities in the state. The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office and local police processed the crime scene throughout the night.
In his statements, Morrissey emphasized that there is currently no ongoing threat to the community of Dover. He also noted that there were no prior police reports or domestic issues reported at the Kamal residence or in the neighborhood. Documents relating to Chapter 13 bankruptcy filings in September 2022 were found by Boston 25 News.
The deaths have marked a somber note in the town’s history, being the first reported homicide in Dover since 2020. The District Attorney’s Office reassured the public that the incident appears to be isolated, based on the evidence available.
Resources for domestic violence, such as the state’s hotline, have been highlighted by the authorities in the wake of the incident. The community, while grappling with the news, has been reminded of the support systems in place for those facing domestic issues.
