Hollywood Icon Ryan O’Neal Passes at 82

Ryan O’Neal, a celebrated actor famous for roles in movies such as “Love Story,” died on December 8, 2022, at 82 years old. The cause of death was listed as congestive heart failure due to cardiomyopathy on his death certificate.

O’Neal’s career spanned several decades, beginning with his role in the TV series “Peyton Place.” His fame escalated internationally after “Love Story” in the early 1970s, and he starred in other successful films including “What’s Up, Doc?” and “Paper Moon.”

Apart from his acting career, O’Neal faced significant health challenges, including chronic myelogenous leukemia diagnosed in 2001 and stage two prostate cancer in 2012.

Despite these health issues, he remained a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.

He is survived by his children, including actress Tatum O’Neal, his co-star in “Paper Moon,” and sons Patrick, Griffin, and Redmond, his son with the late actress, Farrah Fawcett.

His family has shared their grief and recollections of him, focusing on his role as a caring father and a notable figure in Hollywood.

O’Neal’s burial took place at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park, near UCLA, on Saturday, December 23. He was laid to rest next to his former partner, Farrah Fawcett, who passed away in 2009 at age 62. O’Neal’s grave is near other famous personalities like Jack Lemmon and Dean Martin.
