Man, 81, Charged with Attempted Homicide of Daughter

In a shocking incident in Nashville, Tennessee, an elderly man, Floyd Allen Seay, 81, was detained following a violent encounter that gravely injured his daughter.

The Metro Nashville Police responded to a call about a domestic disturbance on Monday afternoon, November 27, 2023, around 1:30 pm in the 3000 block of Louise Drive. Upon their arrival, they found Seay’s daughter with several stab wounds to her chest, lower neck, and cheek. She was quickly rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of her critical injuries.

The conflict initially started as a verbal argument but quickly turned physical. Seay grabbed his daughter’s head, forced her to the ground, and hit her face multiple times. The aggression escalated when Seay went into the house, got a kitchen knife, and resumed assaulting his daughter, stabbing her multiple times.

After the attack, Seay handed the knife to a neighbor and shockingly confessed his intent to kill his daughter. In the police investigation, Seay admitted to using the knife deliberately, although he was unclear about his reasons for doing so. Alarmingly, he expressed willingness to repeat his actions if possible.

This incident has brought attention to a troubling pattern of over 50 domestic disturbance calls to the home in the past year, including 24 for domestic issues.

Floyd Allen Seay is now held in Metro Jail with a bond of $500,000.
