Seven Killed in Guesthouse Fire Tragedy

On Tuesday, December 26, 2023, a massive fire engulfed the Ferma Dacilor farm guesthouse in the village of Tohani, Prahova County, Romania, resulting in the death of seven people, including at least two children.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations confirmed that 26 people were staying in the guesthouse when the fire started. Authorities say the building, constructed of wood, did not have a fire inspection permit.

Emergency teams were mobilized to the site in the early morning hours of Tuesday. The fire’s intensity led to the formation of search and rescue squads, initially in response to five reported missing persons.

It has been confirmed that 18 people escaped the fire, with two of them currently receiving burn treatment in a local hospital. One person was reported missing.

Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire by approximately 12:45 pm on the day of the incident, and search and rescue operations continued thereafter.

The fire covered an area of about 10,800 square feet. Emergency services shared images showing the extensively damaged structure, with firefighters working to control the aftermath.

The cause of the fire is yet to be identified, and there are no clear indicators pointing to the start of the blaze.

A formal investigation into the incident is in progress.
