A significant development has occurred in the case of Kimberly Wong, a 27-year-old tech worker found dead in her Presidio Heights apartment in San Francisco, California.

On December 7, 2023, Scott Fisher, 29, her boyfriend, was arrested in Concord, California, in connection with Wong’s death, which occurred on November 30.

Wong, employed as a product designer at Plaid, a financial services company in San Francisco, had a notable career in the tech industry. She previously worked at Splunk, a cybersecurity company, where she was known as a hardworking and valued employee. Both her current and former employers acknowledged Wong’s professional impact and talent.

Fisher, who shared the apartment on Clay Street in San Francisco’s Presidio Heights neighborhood with Wong, also worked in the tech sector. He was previously employed at Databricks and is an alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley.

The San Francisco Police Department responded to the residence for a wellness check on the evening of November 30. Upon arrival, they found Wong unresponsive, and despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The case was initially treated as a homicide investigation, with suspicions of domestic violence.

Scott Fisher was arrested at approximately 10:25 a.m. and booked into the San Francisco County Jail on a homicide charge. Jail records indicate that he is being held without bail, though no court appearance date has been announced.

In light of the tragic event, the San Francisco Domestic Violence Consortium has expressed gratitude for the diligent work of the San Francisco Police Department and Supervisor Catherine Stefani. The Consortium’s statement highlights the pervasive issue of domestic violence, offering support to those affected and urging anyone in need to reach out for help.

Plaid released a statement mourning the loss of Kimberly Wong, describing her as smart, talented, positive, and a valuable team member. The company extended its deepest condolences to her family and friends.

The San Francisco Police Department continues its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Wong’s death. They have encouraged anyone with information about the case to contact their tip line.
